WWF-India’s Small Grants Innovation Program

With the aim of encouraging young Indians to respond innovatively and independently to the conservation issues which affect the country, WWF-India is offering eligible individuals a one-time grant of upto INR 400,000 over a maximum period of 2 years for undertaking conservation research/ action research.  The grants will be used to fund research and initiatives which especially demonstrate innovation that is replicable, scalable and sustainable.

The Welcome Trust/DBT India Alliance 

The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance (India Alliance) is an independent, dynamic public charity that funds research in health and biomedical sciences in India. India Alliance invests in transformative ideas and supportive research ecosystems to advance discovery and innovation to improve health and well-being. India Alliance is funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and the Wellcome Trust, UK.  The India Alliance offers funding which covers the full spectrum of biomedical science from fundamental molecular and cellular studies through clinical and public health research for researchers at different stages of their careers. 

Humboldt Foundation (Germany)

The Foundation promote academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from abroad and from Germany. The Union for International Cancer Control’s (UICC)

UICC unite and support the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, to promote greater equity, and to ensure that cancer control continues to be a priority in the world health and development agenda.  UICC grants and fellowships facilitate the professional development of cancer organisations and professionals. Through seed-funding, capacity building and convening opportunities for organisations, UICC helps the launch of new projects addressing the needs of cancer patients.

Indo-US Science and Technology Forum

The governments of the United States of America (through the Department of State) and India (through the Department of Science & Technology) have established the United States–India Science & Technology Endowment Fund (USISTEF) for the promotion of joint activities that would lead to innovation and entrepreneurship through the application of science and technology.

Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA) 

CEFIPRA is actively involved in supporting Indo-French Science, Technology & Innovation (ST&I) system through various activities.  Dedicated mobility support programmes of CEFIPRA provide exposure to young researchers of the working, social and cultural environment of the partnering country.

Earthwatch Funding

Earthwatch’s overarching goal is to support research projects that produce rigorous, relevant, and impactful science, address global change, and actively involve citizen-scientist participants. Distribute requests for proposals (RFPs) annually. Evaluate proposals based on scientific merit, appropriateness of citizen-scientist activities, expected project outcomes and impacts, safety, and logistics.  

Grand Challenges Exploration

Twice each year, Grand Challenges Explorations invites high-risk, high-reward proposals on a range of challenges.  Open to anyone from any discipline, from student to tenured professor, and from any organization, including colleges and universities, government laboratories, research institutions, non-profit organizations, and for-profit companies.

JSMF Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards

The JSMF Fellowship is designed to provide students with opportunities to pursue postdoctoral training that might not be otherwise readily available.   The Fellowships are intended to allow students to seek postdoctoral research opportunities aligned with the student’s interest and desire to obtain additional skills and experience that will further their pursuit of careers in complex systems science.   

Asian Cultural Council

The Asian Cultural Council makes grants to support international travel and cultural exchange between Asia and the U.S., and among the countries of Asia. The large majority of grants are awarded directly to individual artists, scholars, and arts specialists.

Upon the concept of the founder of the Matsumae International Foundation (MIF), “Towards A Greater Understanding of Japan and a Lasting World Peace”, MIF has started the Research Fellowship Program in 1980.  It allows researchers to undertake short term research projects in an institute of choice in Japan.

PEER is a competitive grants program that invites scientists in developing countries, partnered with USG-supported collaborators, to apply for funds to support research and capacity-building activities on topics with strong potential development impacts.
